"Dear friends,

What is militant or extreme about explaining/teaching about the hazards of
artificial food (even one bottle) and about the normal course of lactation.
Women deserve to be told the knowledge about breastfeeding and their baby's
health. That is, IMHO, not militant, but honest."

Of course women need to be taught the hazards of formula feeding, but after
I tell her, it is HER decision what she wants to do with that information.
If a mother chooses to ignore me (and it happens frequently) and goes ahead
and gives a few bottles anyway, I'm not going to make her feel guilty so
that she doesn't want me to come back into her room. I want to continue to
help her so that breastfeeding goes well and the bottles are minimized.
Most times, if the mother is going to give a bottle, she has already given
one before I see her (and most are NOT pushed by the staff) and I'm not
going to tell her that just one bottle has harmed her baby at that point.
