I have permission from the mother to post this question.
A new mother of a two week old infant has noticed that her babys mouth
smells foul " like body odor" The mothers milk does not taste or smell foul
but her nipples do ( no other part of her body smells bad) There are no
other symptoms and breastfeeding is progressing well. Mother has a general
normal diet and is healthy in every way. The labor and delivery were quite
normal and the infant was full term.
The only other piece of perhaps relevant information is that mother takes
erithromycin for her rosacea and has done for nine months.
I am puzzled by this and would welcome any advice. I am tempted to suspect
that the erithromycin is responsible but I can find no evidence to back
this.

Thank you.
