I remind my parents that babies have rights and one is the " right of refusal" and also they "live in the moment" and don't know or care what you did an hour ago! So "training" them to do what you want, when you want is not appropriate. We need to be more respectful of their space.( I commonly refer to the JHL article, Bottlefeeding to Reinforce Breastfeeding) when bottlefeeding is nec. But I have seen babies who take bottles everyday -refuse them at 3 or 4 months why? Because then can and many times should! ( due to the abusive nature of forced feeding) And Just because babies do something one day does not mean they will do it the next -that's just how it is. I agree with Judy -bottles/machines mean separation, anxiety and stress for everyone. Moms should be enjoying their babies instead of thinking about how/when to be away from them. As far as work is concerned I tell my moms -don't let your employer steal one moment of joy from you and your baby right now! This is your time.
