Marie says:

<<My daughters' friend said--"Why would anyone steal formula?"
My daughter answered "All those moms who don't breastfeed and then
find they don't have money for formula. When your baby's hungry
you'll do just about anything."
We got a couple of odd stares and at least one mom nodded knowingly.
What a sad state of affairs.
If the cost is so high that people steal it, I was thinking is
there anyway we can use this to our advantage to promote breastfeeding?
Any ideas?>>

Actually, the powdered formula is most often stolen and used to cut heroin.
Not used for babies at all. For awhile, our grocery store only had Similac
powder behind the counter, and Enfamil was out in the open because Similac
apparently was better for use with heroin than Enfamil. Haven't looked lately,
but the big stores, Target, etc, have all the powder out on the shelves.

Sad, isn't it -- no matter how you "cut" it.
