Good morning. I see that Danny Hirsch, MD has posted another Journal club
article for discussion, and that discussion has been fairly slow. When we
first begun this Journal Discussion group, it was with the intent to learn
more about journal articles, how to read research articles in general, and
finally about the subject matter at hand, so it really is a good
opportunity for education for anyone who needs to hone those skills.

Originally, there were about 50-60 people who indicated that they were
interested in participating, though I do not see that this is happening in
reality. If Lactnetters are not able to participate in the Lactnet forum
re: the journal article discussion group, we will consider moving this
discussion group to a different private venue, so that those who really
wish to get the article, read it, critique it, etc, can do so.

I believe that this is a fabulous chance to have Dr. Hirsch, a
neonatologist from NY and Lactnet member, help us all to read research
critically. Personally, this is a weak point for me, and so I am willing to
do what it takes to participate.

I will post Danny's last Journal article discussion invitation, and we will
take it from there. So, now is the time to show your interest if you want
the Journal Discussion group to remain on Lactnet proper. What I am going
for is a small group of active and interested professionals to participate,
no lurkers, maybe....... perhaps something like AOLIM would be a better
venue if this discussion does not fly on Lactnet.

We'll see what happens.

Kathleen
