Why the concern about measuring a baby's blood sugar?
If the baby had happened to be born somewhere without 24 hour lab coverage,
no one would have done anything like that.
After birth, do mothers with no appetite get force fed, or have their blood
sugar levels checked?
Babies are people too.  Why should we behave as though they are sick just
because they happen to be inside hospitals?
I realize some babies are sick.  Most are not and it is incumbent on
maternity carers to have the knowledge to tell the difference.  in 99% of
cases you can tell WITHOUT resorting to the use of sharp objects.
