Sandy reports,

<< I just got a call that one of the breastfeeding moms I am working
with was told to stop nursing her 5 month old infant due to him having
eczema. She herself has no signs of eczema and has TOTALLY taken out
diary. Although I looked through the achieves I have not found anything
about discontinuing breastfeeding. Does anyone have any information about
 this? >>

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! If this baby is prone to allergies (of which eczema is
just one manifestation), then the introduction of any kind of formula is
going to be lethal. This mother needs to continue to breastfeed and avoid
giving the baby any kind of solid foods until it is determined what the baby
is sensitive to -- is it something in the diet (if she has taken out dairy,
is she reading labels to make sure she isn't inadvertently consuming
something like milk, milk products, casein, whey, or sodium caseinate? Even
hot dogs, unless they are kosher, contain milk products!!). It could be
wheat, it could be corn -- and it could be the laundry detergent.
