Hi All,

I have permission to post from a mother. Baby is 4 weeks old - first
baby - born after a long labor, attempted vacuum - then a Caesarean.
Mother contacted me for sore nipples and plugged duct. I have offered
mother phone support as I have beentravelling - sent her to local BF
support group. Some of her complaints suggest a possible candida
overgrowth.

She is going to get sonogram on breast for a lump that will not go
away that sometimes gets the size of a golf ball and for a couple of
days was red and warm. She was on a course of cipromax post pregnancy
for UTI + fever.

She has been wearing a bra 24/7 - I suggested some free time from the
bra.

She called me tonight - she nursed baby on non-lump side then nursed
her on the lump side then began expressing and then realized baby was
taking in a black, foul smelling milk - she panicked - called ped -
who suggested AIM and expressing to keep up supply. Now the lump is
gone - the 4 week old lump!

I think this may have been a galactocele. My question to you all is
"has anyone else seen black milk?" I checked the archives - I did find
a correlation between mynocycline and black milk = she does not think
she had this and she said the milk was very foul smelling.
