So agree...and it is pertinent to us in the UK, as twice in the last
week I have heard of mothers being told to pump and dump for **24
hours** after drinking...this when I was smug and happy that 'our'
HPs would never tell a mother this.

One of the mothers I heard it from had been to her own 21st birthday
party, and the week before had collected 24 hours worth of EBM for
her baby to have afterwards....only she found it wasn't enough, and
he had cried, and had been given formula. She herself was worried her
milk supply had gone down (I don't think it had) drastically, because
the baby was now bf constantly.

Her health visitor had told her the 24 hour 'rule' and  when I
actually gave her the facts about it, she was in tears of rage and
fustration - not my aim, at all, as I don't like mothers to feel
worse after a call : (

This 24 hour thing is like some sort of a punishment for daring to
enjoy yourself.
