Thanks for the info, Rachel.  Of course, we are all envious of many
provisions for working and breastfeeding women in Norway and other Nordic
countries. And it's noteworthy that you have this right by law, not subject
to collective bargaining agreements.

My need now, though, is to hear about language from collectively bargained
union contracts, because that is another route for women to try if their
countries do not have---and perhaps have no intention of ever making---good
maternity protection laws. There are many paths up the mountain, and women
should know of the alternatives when one path is blocked. A trade union may
bargain on behalf of the workers in an entire sector of the economy, or for
just a few workers in one enterprise, or anything in between. As long as the
system works to get women and babies what they need, I'm happy.

How about the rest of you?  What do you know?
