Janet: One good reference to show corporations for the benefits of
providing pumping facilities is: Jones EG, Matheny RJ. Relationship
between infant feeding and exclusion rate from child care because of
illness. Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Jul
1993;93(7):809-11. They showed that among similar groups (matched for
socioeconomic factors, etc) of babies in day care, the exclusively
formula-fed babies had the most days excluded from the day care center
for illness and their mothers had the most days absent from work as a
result. Among the breastfed babies, all of which did better than the
artificially-fed group, those who got the most breastmilk did the best,
and those with only token breastfeeding and mostly abm were closer to the
exclusively formula-fed ones. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
