What would you say to a dairy scientist at my local university who was
recently in a breastfeeding class with his wife who challenged me (not
in a belligerent way ) with the statement that the cow's milk protein
cannot cross the intestinal lining whole, and therefore could not
possibly be the culprit in triggering fussy gassy etc behavior in
babies.

I know OUR stuff says that we find the cow's milk protein in human milk.
Is it in its whole structural form? Is it a certain part of a broken
down protein that we find that causes the problems we see?

I was hoping that you all who are wiser than I could help me explain
what I *know* but couldn't retort back in a scientific way.

Thanks.

Karen Foard, IBCLC

Plus if you have in your quick at your fingertips files the references
for what we know, that would be great. Part of my answer to him is to
also say show me YOUR references as to how HE knows that this *couldn't*
be true (in a non-belligerent way) in order to learn from him, too.
