Would anyone be able to help me help my niece with choosing a breastpump? She lives in New Zealand. She is a first time mom and overly anxious to get a pump now. I've encouraged her to wait and see what she truly needs (for return to work). I've encouraged her to talk with her midwife about this.

She is sending me lists of pumps from shopping sites. I'm unfamiliar with some brands and surprised by the prices. The Medela Pump in Style is not on the list.

What is usually used in New Zealand when a baby is born prematurely and needs to stay in the hospital longer than mom?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Toni Pestro, BSN, RN, IBCLC
