Would that I could explain this to moms. But if I'm lucky, I see 2-3
English-speaking moms per week. Our census is 500+ a month. My limited
Spanish amounts to a little more than "Yes, you do but baby needs help to
get it." Many of you have suggested excellent ways to explain and teach,
but when there is a language barrier, there is a brick wall. We do have
interpreters, but they are busy helping with Consents, Discharges, and
other calls all over the hospital. They come to explain an event but cannot
facilitate a half-hour conversation, or wait around while mom and I work on
waking up a "sleepy" baby because it's "time to eat".

Sorry. Pity-Party time. My frustration is showing. I'll suck it up and
smile before going to work tomorrow.
