From the history given, this baby likely wasn't nursing effectively the first
few days which led to the high bili initially.  It probably wasn't necessary
to take him off the breast to treat it, although supplementation might have
been needed to ensure adequate calorie intake, as well as close followup to
fix the breastfeeding problem, while under phototherapy.  The bili is now
10.9, not at all a worrisome level.  The mom should continue nursing the baby,
ignore the doctor's advise to stop, and followup with an LC who can assess the
nursing couple to make sure nursing and calorie intake are adequate.  Once the
bili falls, it will stay down; the "rise" from 9.9 to 10.9 is NOT SIGNIFICANT
and can be ignored.

I suspect Dr. Newman will have something similar to say about this . . .
