Dear friends:

Many of you have written to me asking for updates on how we are and what we
are doing. I've sent a collective thank-you letter to all of the people
who have donated to LLL Honduras. The list is so long that there is no
space to thank all of the people who have assisted. Some pictures from our
first donation visits were also sent to Linda Smith who has graciously
donated space on her site to let people know about breastfeeding in
Honduras as a result of Mitch.

You can find both pictures and the letter on the Bright Future Website
http://www.bflrc.com

This note is just to emphasize the moral and financial support that you
have all so generously provided and to let you know about a few other
things with which we have been involved since Mitch.

During the height of the immediate reaction to the destruction and
devestation, Judith Rosenberg, who helped us all learn a methdology for
training trainers in support groups, offered to come as a volunteer to
Honduras to help people learn how to give support to disaster victims.

With the help of María José Joya (Chepita), my friend and colleague and
co-author, with her of the Guide for Trainers and Supervisors, part of the
trilogy on Community-based Breastfeeding Support that we produced when I
was at Wellstart, they put together a wonderful workshop for training of
trainers and several NGOs here in Honduras as well as some Ministry of
Health staff benefitted from that workshop. Hopefully, we will be able to
give some follow-up to people.

I have continued to be very involved with the Shelter Committee, chaired by
the Mayor's wife, that has evolved into a coalition of NGOs, the local
churches, the Chamber of Commerce, the Maquila Association and the mayor's
office. The mayor made a wonderful proposal to this group for a
public-private Foundation and this Foundation is coming along well.

At the same time, those of us who have been working together for several
years have been discussing the development of a new NGO that would work in
the areas of innovations in health care and in education of young children
from birth to three years of life.

So life is never dull and we benefit from the input of all. Once again,
thank you all very much, and please take some time to read the note on the
Bright Future Website and see the pictures.

Thank you from all of us, Judy
