Yesterday I heard from 2 moms with recurrent plugged ducts. The first mom, had much difficulty with milk supply for the first 5 weeks, with the help of pumping, a lactation aid and domperidone she has been exclusively breastfeeding for months, baby has done very well and he is just over 5 months. I had not heard from her in quite awhile but when she called yesterday she said she keeps getting plugged ducts, both breasts usually upper outer quadrants, but not always the same same spot, \she can work them out but states this week it happened twice and more painful. She has been reducing the domperidone. Y'day one nipple was also sore, no opinigs or rawness. I discussed the obvious causes, she does wear an underwire bra but the plugged ducts only occur along the top, I suggest she take a good look at the nipple to to see if there is a plugged nipple pore and continue to gradually decrease the domperidone. Her question was more why? Any thoughts.
