Well an even better reason to keep nursing my son, 2 years next month! I
was hospitalized for the first time when I was only 8 weeks PG and was on
a constant IV drip for almost 10 weeks after that. I only got a 4 hours
reprieve daily. After that, I went in for some IV tx when needed but was
able to hold some foods down. I was not on a restricted diet, nor am I
thin nor overwieght.

I can say that when I had the stomach flu and was nursing Steven it helped
calm my stomach, whether it was hormones or because I relaxed I have no
clue. Good luck with your client, at the end I had lost 25 pounds and
reagained it all plus 10 pounds when I delivered.

The best advice I had from numerous (and I mean tons) of RD's and OB's was
eat what you can. At that point it was more about caloric intake not about
what I was eating. They told my husband if she wants chocolate cake at 2
am get it! Hooray to my WIC person that told me that, as they kept me
trying and as healthy as I could...delivering a 9 pound 7 oz boy. Also, in
my experience and my OB agreed, the worse the case the more frequently she
saw large babies or multiples....who knows...maybe when we try again it
will help since weaning is no where in my future...
