I always like to turn the tables on this kind of health care professional
who is obviously not informed and not breastfeeding-friendly.

I would ask him for documentation of his advice.  He has none.  I would then
cite Ruth Lawrence's discussion on allergies, in her text, as well as other
reputable texts, and then I would hand him a copy of How To Know Your Health
Care Provider is not Breastfeeding Friendly, by Jack.

I think that the burden of proof is on the person telling the mother to
wean. Weaning is a serious thing, and may deprive the infant of the many
benefits of breastmilk. A recommendation to wean should have research based
documentation behind it.
