Just my own experience to report: using a rolled-up towel to lift my
pendulous breasts up to a comfortable height for latching on was a
wonderful technique.  Without the towel, I had to lift the entire (not
inconsiderable) weight of my breast up and hold it there for the
entire length of every feed.  I didn't have the muscles to do that.
