I know a woman who has OCD and she couldn't stand not knowing how much the
baby was getting. She had very sound education in breastfeeding
management-had even read and understood Lawrence-just for her own education.
She could look me in the eye and rattle off all the reasons it wasn't
necessary for her to know this information and then she secretly rented a
pump and fed by bottle so she would know. (I knew the person she rented it
from and saw the pump in the house.) She also did test weights with most
feeds and pumped and fed EBM till her baby's first birthday, charting the
amount he ate at each feed through that whole year. That first birthday was
the last day he "needed" her milk. He's about 3 now and I don't have contact
with her anymore. I wonder if she counts his french fries? It wouldn't
surprise me one bit.

I wonder about the medication that is sometimes given for this condition.
Does anyone know what is used to treat OCD medically. I know that some
people are on meds for it.
