Hello again Lactnets,
I would like to ask the length of time do you recommend reglan therapy
for low milk supply. I have several clients that are taking
antidepressants and we try all other methods first. I found that a lot
of the time it is a mom returning to work and she is a bottle or two shy
of day care providers and she starts to panic. I have been asking them
to ask their day care provider to not feed the baby within an hour of
their coming to pick the baby up so she can feed her baby on her
arrival. Most of the time that has been the problem, they want baby
happy to see mom and feed them just before coming home.
I do have those occasionally that are true low milk supply. My book
from Jack Newman is missing. Our physicians don't always want to do
prolactin levels only because if it's low your going to treat it anyway.
Do you stay on the reglan until milk supply is achieved and then wean
off or is it a month, two weeks, etc.?
Thank you,
Terri Klein RN,CLE,CLC, mom
