The thing about baby nursing 10-15 min each side without the sns is that baby could likely be doing non-nutritive sucking.  The sns from the start of feedings will help baby identify the breast as a good place to get plenty of milk, encourage active sucking for longer, and baby will very likely take in more breast milk with prolonged active sucking.Susan in MNrn ibclc
