have you ever heard of suche a case:
(from a midwife contacting me)
There is a mom, coming from Africa, diabete 1, under treatment (glucophage), 2nd baby;
1st baby: no milk, not even one drop of milk, said the mom about her previous child.

now:
cesarian yesterday 18th, no feed within the first hours...
the midwife has massaged her breasts, then after several minutes, gets hardly some "pearls" on a kind of thick syrup, with some kind of lumps, the whole color seems light brown from both breasts... very few quantity and only small drops... baby seems disgussed by the taste; the midwife tried again several times within the firts 24h

Has anyone any knowledge of a link between the kind of medication for a level 1 diabetus, and the color of the colostrum? and the taste of the colostrum?
diabetus seemed to me linked with a delay in lactogenese 2 but not about quantity...
could it be linked to "roasted pipe" but it should not be such light brown + lumps...

all concerns the both breasts; the midwife wondered if the lumps could be rest of casein from before?
I am sorry to have so few informations AT THE MOMENT... even about prelacteal maternel feeds...
But if you have ideas....

breast regards,
Françoise
