Thanks to those who wrote.

I just spoke to mom. Baby has had many wet diapers (very pale yellow) and
several copious bms! Baby has nursed well, swallowing, unfolding and
relaxing during feeding, milk visible, mother's breasts softening as feed
goes on. Mother's nipples do not hurt during feeding and are almost
completely healed. Together with the intake indicators above and the way
she described the baby's relaxation and sleep pattern after feeding, I
think they are on the right track.

Mom is feeling much better about the situation. She is willing to be seen
in person although she would like to see me after she sees the MD for the
wt. check tomorrow. She was nursing the baby when we were talking. As soon
as she finishes, she plans to weigh the baby on a scale she got from a
friend Sunday. (She weighed him on that when they originally got home from
the hospital and it jibed with his discharge weight.) If he isn't gaining
from yesterday's visit at the MDs, we agreed that I would see her tonight.
I have a full schedule early tomorrow and am going out of town tomorrow
late afternoon.

I suggested that she be in touch with and possibly see a hospital LC while
I am out of town. I wanted to open the way for another breastfeeding
contact. Turns out, she had been given the LC's card while in the hospital.
(Was offered a visit with her at that time, but turned it down.) I spoke
with the LC today and will bring her up to date before I go out of town
this weekend. She has an SNS on hand if necessary.

I'll try to update y'all before leaving tomorrow.
