Good morning folks. Bashing is when people make global statements without
basis. Truth is when people report their own experience as they have
experienced it. Defensiveness is when people extrapolate one experience as
being a global truth.

I think that it is fine for someone to report their own experience, and
that it would be more productive if those who have had different experience
with the military situation and bf help report those experiences to give a
balance to the story as *they* see it.

This discussion reminds me of the defensiveness that occurs when someone
reports a bad experience with a physician, or other health care
professional, and then another feels that the person is attacking the
entire field, when in fact, it is confined to that incident and that
person, and perhaps that set of circumstances. A cascading defensiveness
ensues, which is neither productive, or meaningful.

Sometimes it is best to try and take things less personally, and to be pro
active in giving other examples to illustrate the truth as you see it. This
is a professional discussion, and as such, we need to be able to hear all
sides of a situation.

Thanks. Kathleen
