I've heard about this as well, - I think from a talk given by a Unicef BFI
assesor - I've also read it in a bf magazine sometime this year - i'll try
and dig it out and see if there's a ref. I seem to recall they were just
normal see shells picked up from the beach with well worn edges that had bee
washed.
