Hello,

I have a question about commercial marketing to patients in the hospital, especially in regard to the BFHI guidelines. My understanding is that they recommend no products or printed materials or posters with logos of for-profit companies on them. Does that extend to Medela and Ameda as well? It seems like it. Does that mean that we can no longer give patients information about breastfeeding from Medela, or put up a poster that is from Ameda? I think it does. It's hard to explain to management why we can't use any products, even information Pampers, or Johnson & Johnson, it's really hard to explain why we can't use info from breastfeeding friendly companies. Does anyone have any articles or other information that I can use to help make my case?

Thank you,

Tricia Shamblin, RN, IBCLC
