I am working as a LC in a large university hospital. The childrens hospital
opened 1 year ago in Jan.. Each NICU infant has their own room. The
hospital has a step-down unit, 12 beds, specifically designed for parents
to room in with their infants. our census is usually around 65-70 level 3-4
infants.
Parents are encouraged to stay with their infants and do as much care as
possible. Lights are usually down and the overall atmosphere is much
quieter and more conducive to family and infant well being.
