I wish all the girls writing on Monday all the success in the world
and cool nerves. I'll be praying for you all.
In the newspaper today there is a picture of a woman breastfeeding a
vervet monkey whose mother was shot and killed whilst giving birth to him.
"Human" mother tried to feed him formula and he was allergic to it so she
relactated by using an anti-depressant and when the milk started flowing the
little guy was well on the way to recovery! He has apparently weaned
himself off but goes to the breast when he is insecure. He has never
bitten his mum with his sharp little teeth. The Mum has a son of 28.
A baby was born in the ward with a cleft lip and gum - mother
desperate to breastfeed - tried the baby on the one breast and it blocked
his nose so went to the other side and this little guy latched on and drank
for 30 minutes - he was a star! I have no experience of this so was
delighted. Father is a local doctor who also had the same - cleft lip and
gum. He got fed Jack's notes and just loved them. The mom had a C/S and
when she could sit she used the football postion and again the baby did
well. Happy story!
At the same time I had a mom with very stiff breasts and flat
nipples - her breasts are best described as 2 ice-cream cones - no movement
and I had a hard time gettting the baby latched - used a breastpump but that
didn't really help. Can anyone give me some advice please.
