Pauli, please pass on to Sharone that I recently read a medical article
which indicated that in some autistic children allergy to dairy products
was an important factor in their overall performance. When these kids
had all dairy removed (we're talking cow milk here) from their diets,
some made tremendous improvements in their abilities, almost overnight.
It's probably worth a try.
I suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSS) after my twins
were born. One of the problems was the inability to go to or stay
asleep. I was treated with trazadone (a mild, older antidepressant know
for it's ability to aid with sleep disorders) as well as a seratonin
reuptake inhibitor. Most are acceptable while breastfeeding, see Dr. Tom
Hale's book, Medications and Mothers Milk. The trazadone works
immediately, the antidepressant takes 4-6 weeks before becoming fully
effective.
It sure sounds like a lot of progress has been made. Best wishes to all
involved.
Denny
