I once had the mom of a 10 day old show me "perfect" positioning...
and a baby who nursed apathetically. There wasn't much to fix, she
did it so well, but milk just wasn't moving.

"Shall I show you our power position?" she asked. "Sure," I said, not
knowing what to expect. She laid the baby on its back on a pillow on
the floor, got over the baby on hands and elbows, latched on... and
the baby went GLUG, GLUG, GLUG. Back up in "perfect" positioning...
and nothing happened.

We ended up arranging for her to hold the baby on a stiff pillow,
nearly horizontal, while she leaned unobtrusively forward - a
mall-acceptable version of their floor stance. We never did figure
out whether the glitch was maternal or infant... but they nursed at
least into toddlerhood and gradually lost their reliance on the Power
Position.

So much for perfect positioning.
