Hi Debbie,
I am very familiar w/ lactose intolerance issues, and also foremilk/hindmilk
issues (aka oversupply/OALD) which, as I understand it, are really
'relative' lactose overload and rapid gastric emptying issues, not a true
lactose intolerance. I think a baby w/ very mucusy and esp. bloody stools,
as you described, would not necessarily be considered a THRIVING baby. I had
said if the baby is thriving, ignore the green color. I still feel this is a
valid course of action (or inaction, as the case would be). Hope all us Gulf
Coasters fare well w/ this hurricane coming. Laurie
<<Green stools accompanied by mucus type discharge and/or blood streaks
are often a sign of lactose intolerance. There was a wonderful seminar
about lactose intolerance at the last ILCA Conference. I highly recommend
getting the tape.>>
