Hello all! This is a personal question for me and my little nursling. I
can't seem to find out much in my local area. I guess I should have asked
this before experimenting this morning.

My one year old son has excema (red, patches that he scratches on face,
scalp, elbows, back of knees), eats very little solids(once or twice a
day). We are dairy free (may get traces from time to time but no milk,
cheese, yogurt, etc.)He drinks water occasionally. Big,fat baby, happy, lots
of teeth. Nurses on demand.

Anyway, a couple of days after his birthday (Feb 16th) I gave him some
scrambled eggs (small amt. of veg. oil in the pan). About 1-2 hours after
eating the eggs which he loved, he had small welts all over that started
in his excema patches and spread (esp. on his legs), his entire body was
red and hot and his arms had to be held down to prevent him from
scratching.I had to give him 2 doses of Benadryl before he got back to
normal.

Fastforward to today. I have eaten eggs ALL throughout pregnancy and
lactation. I had not eaten them since the incident until this morning. I
ate two fried eggs. He nursed and is now asleep. I will of course watch
him closely. Now I am thinking it was not so smart and he may have another
reaction. I have Benadryl standing by but I am wondering if I can/should
eat eggs. Can he ever eat eggs again or should I consider him forever
allergic? How do you test such things? could it have been something else
like the oil on the pan or the pan? He had a little birthday
muffin/cupcake made with egg and did not react.

You can email me off list if it would be more appropriate.
Thank you for any illumination you may have.
Micky
