Dear Andrea,

One of the bigest problems with breastfeeding research is the use of
varying definitions.

The Journal of Human Lactation uses the definitions outlined by Labbock,M.;
Krasovec,K. (1990) "Toward consistency in breastfeeding definitions" in
Stud.Fam.Plann. vol. 21.

In many places of the world, the definitions outlined by the World Health
Organization (Division of Diarrhoeal and Acute Respiratory Disease Control.
Indicators for assessing breastfeeding practices. Geneva: World Health
Organization; 1991.) are considered standard.

Then there are some people who have their own *personal*
defiitions. Unfortunately, we still need to work on consistency, as
Labbock and Krasovec said.
