I guess I'm in the minority and a bit of a cynic (and maybe because I'm not
American I fail to notice some major nuance) - but, on the adage that
"there is no bad publicity", I don't think the NOW reaction to the AAP
guidelines matters very much.

I doubt the AAP guidelines would have received so much coverage if they had
not caused this reaction. And to most, AAP means "the doctors", so
presumably people believe that medically they must be right, and the likes
of NOW are just stating a reaction/opinion. Such an opinion does not
invalidate the medical/health advice of the AAP.

It is great that so many people are hearing the AAP recommends 12 months of
BF. I think that is the message that will stick with them!
