I agree that the hospital practice and initiation is not all there is.
However, if we can help with initiation, breastfeeding has a better chance.
since we started seeing all our breastfeeding moms, we have seen a large
increase in women still breastfeeding at 3 months.  We see outpatients also
and handle phone calls in all stages of breastfeeding.  We go all over the
hospital when a breastfeeding mother is admitted for any reason.  I would say
my best skill is in managing the early days, and I really do not apologize
for it.
