At our local ILCA affiliate (MILC), we had a session on sexual abuse 2
months ago. The speaker noted that the current figures are 1 in 3 women and
1 in 6 men with such a history. We could not believe that one in three of
us in that room were likely victims. However, the definition used was being
touched/used in a way we are uncomfortalbe/do not want in childhood or
adulthood. Given that definition, I suspect many of us would qualify.

It behooves us all to be aware of this possibility with more women we see
than we might have considered. I agree that we need to be prepared to offer
more than a helping hand. Do we know of places in the community where the
mother can get help? I think we should be prepared to offer such assistance
if we raise the issue.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
