You asked for references to confirm that double pumping will boost
prolactin levels and reduce time needed for pumping. Going through my very
old card index filing system I find a note I made to myself in 1990
(!!) "Pumping the breasts simultaneously decreases the time spent pumping
and stimulates prolactin more than pumping in tandem and hence may
encourage a better milk supply." The reference is: Sucking Disorders in
Neurologically Impaired Infants, p 121. My books are all still packed, so
I can't remember in which book, or in which section of which book I
obtained this information. The name Susan Meintz Maher is ringing bells,
but I can't be sure. Maybe someone else can complete the ref??

Best wishes to all for the New Year

Subject: milk expression and prolactin levels

Dear friends,

Either nothing has been said on this or I use inappropriate search terms,
but I can't find what I search for in the archives.
It has been said that simultane pumping will not only reduce time needed,
but also boost prolactin levels, thus increasing amount of milk expressed.
Does anyone know any references for this?

Warmly,
Gonneke,
