Thanks for this Diana,

The endocrinologist said he wouldn't prescribe metformin as he couldn't find any research-based information to show that it would help with lactation. She wasn't taking it during pregnancy as her blood glucose level was "within normal limits".

Whatever the final outcome, this mother will continue to feed her baby at the breast with a supplementer, but I feel really sad that she is unable to get an answer about what has gone wrong - even if it can't be put right.
