Chiming in with my own experience (although never an EP-er - just pumped 
at work), I can't recall ever being bothered in the slightest by the 
pump flanges feeling cold when fresh out of the freezer - in fact, it 
never even occurred to me as a possible issue until you mentioned it! 
Good idea about just rinsing the flanges and leaving the rest in the 
fridge, but I'd still have found it more trouble than I'd personally 
have wanted to go to on such a frequent basis.
