Karen, I had a retained placenta after the birth of my second baby, d&c after
about six weeks, and exclusively nursing a colicky newborn (oh yeah, I had
over active let down on top of this and a baby who wouldn't take anything
but milk directly from mom), but even after the procedure, nothing really
changed. Now was it due to the other problems, I don't know. Baby managed
to eat enough to stay at the 10%-tile but I never had a full milk supply. Only
time baby nursed well was early am feed, but wouldn't nurse as often as I
thought she should and for as long as she should. Just kind of quit drinking
when the level got to "minimum". AND weaned herself at six months when she
figured out how to use a cup. Drove me crazy.
