<But Nikki - isn't that a violation of the code - to show a mother
bottle-feeding in a class?

Dear Friends:

The classes I was speaking of are for healthcare professionals.

I think that the Code is about the marketing of breastmilk substitutes,
not about what is taught in classes.

   warmly,
   Nikki>

I struggle with the issue of teaching paced bottlefeeding, bottles, etc. in
the newborn care classes I teach. OTOH, I don't want to put bottles into
their hands before they've even had their baby in their hands. OTOH, I see
*so* many babies struggling to breathe, over-feeding with bottles,
aspirating, etc., etc. Most parents don't even have a clue. Their baby is
arching, struggling to get away from the flow, and they just keep that
nipple in the baby's mouth! If it wasn't so pervasive, I wouldn't even
think of demonstrating a different way.

Looking forward to hearing how others deal with this.
