I believe when joint commission says 'lactation consultant' they are referring to an IBCLC. The reason why I think this is because of the speak-up campaign a few years ago. On their handout it says 'ask if the hospital has a lactation consultant and how to reach one' and then listed in their reference is the link to USLCA
