Regarding the length of time needed for cure and for pain relief, I have had
this experience: Several years ago, I was treating a mother of very preterm
twins who had ductal yeast. After failure of the nystatin, she was put on
fluconazole. SHe initially did have resolution of the symptoms, but never
entirely all of the ductal pain. One of the people on Lactnet had replied to
my note about this mom with an anecdotal report that she herself had been
treated, and had some ductal pain throughout the course of the drug, but when
the course was completed, (and she did have a long term cure) the pain
disappeared. The same was true in my client (an RN, and we discussed this
possibility from my anecdotal note). After 4 weeks on fluconazole, and still
pain, she d/c'd it. The pain disappeared, and she had a cure. Anyone else
had this experience???
