FYI, In the new WABA and UNICEF recommended Breastfeeding Sourcebook ("100%
accurate")by M. Sara Rosenthal I was surprised to read that it is advisable
to engage in "Letdown Foreplay", " In the same way that sexual foreplay, in
the form of fantasies, visual images, and touching of certain erogenous
zones will trigger "vaginal letdown" (sexual secretions for intercourse), a
"foreplay" routine can be practised that will help to trigger milk letdown."

Also recommended if the baby doesn't open wide to latch-on, "you can
stimulate the baby's gag reflex in order to get her to open wide."

"to create more of an airway (so baby can breathe) , try pulling your baby's
bottom in closer, and drop your shoulder down on the side that's being
nursed. This will lower the baby's head in relation to the rest of his body"

"Remember, it is the areola that contains milk storage space."

"Booby Traps...Here's the list of breast products from hell that lactation
experts suggest you avoid...Breast Shells... The kiss of death: nipple
shields...Creams and ointmets...Nursing Pads"

and last tonight,
"Few babies are able to master the technique of sucking and suckling until
they are at least 2-3 months old and breastfeeding well. It's akin to
learning bicycling and skateboarding simultaneously."

Thought you might be interested. Cathy
