Just as a point of info. In Oklahoma City, the hospital I worked in for half
my life had ALL RN/IBCLC's except for one LPN and when she left they hired
RN's only! 

However, OKC is very proud to have a non-nurse IBCLC running the lactation
department of a very large teaching hospital here. And, of course, I would
be referring to our very own ILCA president...Becky Mannel. So, obviously,
it is NOT necessary to have a nursing license (be it RN or LPN) to be an
exceptional and well accepted LC.
