I have been meaning to get to this sooner, but better late than never!

On Sunday we celebrated WBW in a park called The Esplanade in the middle of
Fremantle. There were around 15 or so exhibitors including NMAA (Nursing
Mothers Association of Australia), ALCA (Australian Lactation Consultations
Association) severl hospitals, the SIDs foundation, an anti- Nestle group
(can't remember what they call them selves). I was helping to staff the La
Leche League table. There was an organ grinder (no monkey) and some play
things for kids. We were right next to a play ground. There were gold
ribbons being sold by all fo the exhibitor for 50cents and there was a fish
net tied between two trees with lenghtes of ribbon tied to it to depict how
long you breastfed. We calculated that I would need around 3000 meters, so
I settled on about 6' of ribbon (I calculated that I have breastfed for
somewhere around 375 months!) Oh yeah, one of the exhibitors was none
other than Nancy Durrell McKenna- the photographer who took all fo the
pictures in Sheila Kitzingers books!!!

There was a fire truck there for the kids to tour too.
All of us were under a big tent (donated by Transperth). not!

There were also gold ballons being given out to one and all.

It was a cool and windy day and there was rain from time to time, and we
sure were glad to have the tent!

We were really close to a small cafe, and there was a "sausage sizzle" which
means a cook out- boy scouts seeling hot dogs.

There were lots of really interested pregnant women and moms and dads with
babies. It was a really nice day and I think that it was a real success!

There was only one weirdo- this old guy with no teeth and a really strong
Italian accent came up to our table and looked at our WABs and said that it
was all stupid. He told me that donkey milk was just as good as mothers
milk. His mother was sick when he was born and she fed him donkeys milk-
not goats milk or cows milk, but donkeys milk. Oh well, I didn't know what
to say, so I just listened (those great HRE skills at work).

I'm sure that as sson as I post this I will think of a million things that I
forgot to say! Oh well, I'll post this now. My next post will be about my
radio interview today!
