On a call today, this mom reports bloody discharge from both breasts since
6wk from conception. She says it occurs daily and at 38 wk now she has to
change breast pads 4X/d. Family hx of CA, her mom and her maternal
grandma. OB ruled out CA cells at this time, but cannot give her a reason
for the bloody disch except that it may be related to hormone changes in
pregnancy. Did not BF first child but was planning to BF this one, until
OB recommended that she "not try" to BF--no reason. Mom is resigned to
following her OB whom she feels "knows best".
Says she is willing to listen if I find out more information for her.
Anybody had a similar case? I will check the archives, and some other
references. She is due in 2 wk.
Thanks, Michelle Scott, RD,MA,IBCLC in NH where the rain has left us
enough snow to ski on...
