We could easily drift OT on this...but I couldn't resist it. Women do not
go back to work only to earn a salary. Those of us born in the sixties,
have been educated and acculturated to look forward to a professional
career. We got an education and started those promising careers only to
find ourselves crashing against glass ceilings whenever we decided to have a
family. And the education of women has continued. We have told our
daughters that they can be whatever they want...and that they will have to
deal with very hard choices when they think about motherhood. And the
reality is that things will not change a single bit, as long as we don't
start telling the same thing to our sons.

And here we go back to the old feminist debate, why are we the ones who have
to make the hard choices? What about the men we know that are sometimes
better equiped than us to be parents? We all agree that breastfeeding alone
does not make you a "good" mother. Wouldn't it be nice if after six month
or a year women that chose to, could go back to work knowing that they leave
their kids in the best possible hands, their father's hands?

Janice wrote that she isn't against moms working, if society would make it
possible for them to do so without having to compromise their breastfeeding
or parenting, and I would like to add that society should make it possible
for parents to nurture their kids, regardless of their sex or their feeding
choices.
